Tonight's blog is a personal post from the weekend with some of my uni friends. We were back together again this weekend for our friend Jenni's wedding up in St Andrews on Saturday.

I was shooting the wedding on Saturday, so Sunday had a slower start to the day and to make the most of the sunny weather we headed to the beautiful beach. I can't believe the weather we have been having and these are a few pictures from it.

We were lucky enough to bump into the newlyweds who were out enjoying the sunshine as the new Mr & Mrs Shanks.

Keep an eye out on the blog soon because this wedding was really special, for now this is their pre wedding shoot that we did on the same beach back in March when it was a lot colder! - Jenni & Robert

Craig & Laura's Wedding at Ingliston Equestrian Centre

I have had the pleasure of working with Mirrorbox since last summer. The first wedding I shot with them was Craig and Laura's at Ingliston Equestrian Centre in Bishopton.

I was with Craig in the morning, capturing the grooms side before the ceremony, where I discovered he had a fear of horses! The ceremony was followed by a fantastic meal and party in the art deco part of the venue overlooking the horse arena. Craig and Laura are hugely in love and it was such a pleasure to be part of their day. Here are some of my images from the day...

Sri Lanka {in an instant}

I have a huge instant camera adiction.

Is started when I borrowed my friend Lana's instant camera for my wedding and ordered far too much paper (for those of you who are thinking of having an instant camera for your guest book, you do not need to order 1 sheet of paper per wedding guest!). This meant that I had tonnes to take away with me on honeymoon to Sri Lanka. Lana then bought me an instant camera of my own for my birthday, which I'm sure is because she knew it be the only way she could get her's back!

Here are some of the photos I took in Sri Lanka, they are all taken at Bentota beach which is to the South West of the island. I love the golden tones of the sand and the sunset, the deep rich greens and the pale blues that the camera produces.

This is why I carry a huge, blue, plastic camera around with me and I hope you agree...

Jenni & Robert's St Andrews Pre Wedding Shoot

Jenni and I have know each other since our first day of studying architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. She was the first person I met in the architecture studios we have been friends ever since. About this time last year Jenni asked me if I would take her and Robert’s wedding photographs. I absolutely was delighted to say yes.

We met up a few weeks ago to do a pre wedding shoot up in St Andrews, where they are getting married at the end of May. We started at their wedding venue in the Cathedral ruins (everything crossed for good weather on the day!) and then headed off down to the beautiful beach.

I cannot wait for their wedding, the dress, the venue and all the details sound amazing. Keep an eye out here for it coming up.

Winter Love Couple's Shoot

I have been a bit behind in blogging some of the lovely shoots that I’ve been working on. So far 2012 has been very busy but full of great couples and weddings I can't wait to share.

This post is one I’ve been meaning to blog for ages, but as it’s a personal one it’s been on the back burner for a little bit.

In December I went down to London for a 1-2-1 wedding photography session with Emily Quinton.After attending Emily’s wedding photography workshop back in May last year, I decided that last Christmas was a good time for me to have a 1-2-1 with her. We discussed lots of business ideas as well as my approach to wedding photography. It was really inspiring speaking to another photographer about my approach, and it was a great way to stay refreshed with new ideas for shoots. Part of the session with Emily is to do a couples shoot, or love shoot as I like to call them.

Emily had arranged for Tarah and Nathan to come along for the shoot with us. They were recently married, back in October and were really up for having some post wedding photos taken. We met in Green Park (in the freezing cold!) to do a winter love couple's shoot. Tarah and Nathan were amazing to shoot, they’re so happy and in love! It made my job very easy indeed.

I’d like to thank Emily again for her help and advice. I’d thoroughly recommend a session with her.

Last weekend I went up to St Andrews to do a pre wedding shoot for my friend Jenni and her fiance Robert. We had a great laugh shooting it. We started at the Cathedral ruins and then headed on a short walk to the beach.

Jenni and Robert are getting married at the end of May in St Andrews and I am really excited about their wedding. The plans and details all sound fantastic and I cannot wait to shoot it.

Claire & Chris's Sloans Wedding

Claire & Chris were married back in January in Cancun, Mexico. When they came home they had a big party for their friends and family at Sloans in Glasgow. I was asked to come along to do a couples shoot with them before the guests arrived and then photograph the party for a couple of hours. It has to have been one of the stylish wedding receptions I've been to. The girls all had on amazing outfits - you have to check them out below.

Claire wore a stunning 70s inspired wedding dress with a fur shrug when she arrived, which was so very elegant, while Chris looked very smart in his grey suit. Their cake was handmade by a family friend and the tables were covered in vintage table cloths and candles as a simple centre piece.

It was a great evening full of really friendly people who I had the pleasure of chatting to.

I hope you all enjoy this wedding as much as I did!

Styled shoot at House for an Art Lover.

At the end of last year I had the pleasure of being involved with some fantastic wedding suppliers to do a styled shoot at House for an Art Lover in Glasgow. We were lucky enough to be featured recently with our shoot on the wonderful blog Love My Dress.

This is what we had to say about the shoot that we did together along with my images from the day...

Our shoot was a collaboration between a team of emerging and established wedding industry creatives from across Scotland and England.

From the very start, the creative team behind the shoot decided to showcase the glamour and elegance of the 1930s alongside the vibrant and feminine styles of the 1950s.

The House for an Art Lover seemed the perfect venue for this. Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, its beautiful Art Nouveau architecture echoed our themes of glamour, elegance and femininity.

As it was raining on the day of the shoot we took the opportunity to spend most of the time inside the House itself. This allowed the photographers to incorporate many of the unique details of Mackintosh's design into their work: the beautiful piano in the music room; the panelling; the doorways; the windows; and the light fittings.

Our beautiful hand made dresses were designed and made by Flossy and Dossy and were complimented by stunning jewellery and head pieces designed and made for the shoot by Gioia Mia. Our handsome male models wore sharp custom made suits from the wonderfully helpful people at A Suit that Fits.

We added sumptuous, colourful flowers by I Heart Flowers, lovely bespoke stationery by Caroline Hill Wedding Stationary and the splendid antique gramophone and records provided by Butler and Taylor.

The gorgeous vintage Beauford Classic Tourer from Nuvo Limousines gave a very luxurious feel to the outside shots, enhancing the vintage feel of the shoot.
 

Last but not least, our four models were beautified by our fantastic makeup artist Sophie Edwards and super hair stylist London Ross.

One of our aims for the whole shoot was to show how different the same photo shoot could look through the eyes of different photographers. To this end the shoot features the work of three photographers, each with their own, individual style. Zoe Campbell Photography, Struve Photography, and me at Mack Photography.

We all worked together really closely to make sure that everything co-ordinated, came together and looked beautiful. It was such an exciting project- a first shoot for many of us. We enjoyed creating the images and we hope you enjoy looking over them too.

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you may have seen me tweet some of these images while we were away. This is just a taste of what we got up to in New York. We walked for miles and saw as much architecture as we could possibly fit into our trip! The skyline was such a dramatic difference to Glasgow and I had my camera with me every day. I'll get some of the images up on the blog once I've caught up with wedding blogging, but for now here are a few from my iphone.

3 days in and we've seen so much of Lower Manhattan. Since getting here I've felt like we're on a movie set, although yesterday's rain was more like Glasgow than any New York based film I've seen. We're staying near the Empire State Building and this was the view this morning....

Joanne & Dave's Wedding

Joanne and Dave's wedding was my last wedding of 2011. They got married at Pollockshields Burgh Hall in Glasgow.

The day started at Joanne's Mum and Dad's house in Motherwell with hair make up and Mum making french toast for breakfast for everyone! There's no better way to start your wedding day!

They had an intimate ceremony of close family and friends, with a lovely meal. Then Joanne and Dave were joined by more friends and family for a huge party afterwards to celebrate. The ceremony was full of laughter which continued on all day, through the speeches and onto the dancing. The band were brilliant and kept the dance floor in full swing.

During the reception I set up a photo booth, which was busy all night with everyone more than happy to try on a few hats and glasses! Keep an eye out for a blog post soon with the photo booth.

I started 2011 with the aim to set up my photography blog, which has developed way beyond what I expected. I'd like to thank all of my couples from 2011 and everyone who has helped me out last year.

I have been able to be a part of many stunning weddings over the last 12 months, as well as do some great personal photography projects.

The last few weekend have been filled with some lovely weddings that I've been second shooting with Mirrorbox. Christmas decorations were already up this weekend in the venues and we're not even into December!

In my weekend off in December I'm heading down to London to meet up with wedding photographer Emily Quinton to do a 1-2-1 workshop with her. I did Emily's wedding photography workshop back in May which was fantastic and very inspiring and I got to meet some other fantastic photographers while doing it.
